Today’s data-driven society necessitates data literacy skills for everyone. This workshop led by Stony Brook University Libraries’ Data Literacies Lead, Ahmad Pratama, was designed to address the foundational concepts of data literacy, the types of data, and the importance of reliable data sources.
Presenter Bio:
Ahmad Pratama earned his PhD in Technology, Policy, and Innovation in 2019 as a Fulbright Scholar from Stony Brook University (SBU). After spending 4 years working as Assistant, then Associate, Professor of Information Technology overseas, he returned to the United States as the Data Literacies Lead for SBU Libraries, where he is spearheading data literacy initiatives to support research and scholarship across disciplines. Ahmad brings a unique blend of academic and applied expertise in data science, advancing the university’s commitment to data-driven research and education by empowering individuals to critically engage with data, interpret it meaningfully, and communicate it effectively. When NCSCE was hosted by Stony Brook University, Ahmad was a SENCER doctoral fellow and provided valuable technical support for our websites, social media, membership data management, and educational technology initiatives. We are very grateful to welcome him back to NCSCE!
