University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Hosts their First SENCER Regional Meeting

Instructors and students from Wisconsin and Illinois braved the snow and ice to gather at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater on April 14, 2018 for a meeting focused on health science education and civic engagement. Following an inspiring plenary talk by a team from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and Family Health Center of Marshfield/Marshfield Clinic Community Connections Team, attendees discussed a variety of implementations and ideas for encouraging pre-health students to think about health as something beyond the biological. Topics included food access and nutrition, watershed quality and policy, health disparities, and the ways in which these and other issues are addressed in health science and general science courses.
