Save the Date: March Webinar – Using Civic Questions to Integrate the Humanities and STEM

Register for our March Webinar – Using Civic Questions to Integrate the Humanities and STEM

Join Eliza Reilly, NCSCE’s Deputy Executive Director of Programs, for an overview of the public conversation on humanities and STEM education, its broader relevance for our common civic aspirations, and the advantages for both students and faculty of collaborating across the divisional divide. The webinar will begin by putting in historical context some of the contemporary arguments for greater integration of STEM and humanities disciplinary content in the college curriculum. It will then suggest that organizing curriculum around unsolved civic problems provides a framework for exploring science and its rich, complex “human” context without sacrificing disciplinary or intellectual rigor. Examples of courses and curricular programs, drawn both from the SENCER project and beyond, will be offered. The webinar will conclude with some ideas and organizing strategies faculty and administrators interested in advancing and supporting inter and trans-disciplinary curricular collaborations from general education through majors.

The webinar will be held Tuesday, March 8 from 1-2pm (Eastern).
